Painting Statement
When I create with the full engagement of
my body, mind, heart, and spirit, I feel the most intimate with myself
and with the subject I am engaged with.
My primary approach to my work is expressionistic. I trust the energy
of my emotional expression to intuitively guide my color choices which has
a vital and unique impact on the whole painting. Whether I am working with
landscape, figurative, or with abstract subject matter, the process of observation
or concentration becomes meditative and exploratory.
I have observed over time that I am compelled to explore dualities and contrasts,
such as the male and female archetypes. I am fascinated by the relationship
of the male and female forces in the world at large, how they relate, how
they are opposed, the organic and inorganic nature of the energies. My images
express personal, cultural, and metaphorical meanings.
My favorite creations are ones that evoke mystery, and a sense of eternity
or timelessness.
