Trompe L'oeil Statement

My Trompe L'oeil murals combine realistically painted architectural illusions with imaginary and dreamlike vistas, giving the viewer the feeling that they can enter another place & time.

Lighting is key to creating the drama necessary for the viewer to be drawn into the work. I paint architectural elements such as columns, arches, doorways, stone walls, etc., using high realism, yet within the pictorial framework; the vistas or story like scenes are painted with elements of fantasy, surrealism or abstractions. The combined power of the concrete mathematical reality and the world of the imagination represent the conscious and unconscious worlds.

Wall paintings that breathe when you are in the room with them are very important to me. Whether it is a true buon fresco, acrylic, or egg tempera, (my favorite paint mediums), the viewer must be invited to enter into the paintings power. The essence and true impact of trompe l'oeil has a commanding ability to make the viewer interact and engage with it. It can change an entire room, and the consciousness of the people within the room.
